Sunday Bloody Sunday
June 8, 2008
I am not going to pretend that I understand why, nor am I going to pretend to understand their point of view. I am referring to the sick and sad news the stood before me shortly after waking up this beautiful Sunday morning. As I do every morning, the first thing I do is go and read the news as I feel it is incredibly important to be aware of what is going on in the world, albeit bad or good. In the Akihabara district of Japan, a crazed 25 year old man is said to have driven a rented van into a group of people and then proceeded to go on a stabbing rampage killing 7 people and seriously injuring 10 others. Why? What was the point of this and what did these poor innocent people do to deserve this? It had been reported earlier that the knife man had been a gangster, but isn’t this low even for a gangster?? To run over a man and then stab the man, he had no reason to die, nor did the others, they couldn’t even fight back. This is the crime of a coward. And I hope he gets all the punishment he deserves. He needs help.
The second piece of news that attracted my attention was the news the Basque Separatist Group ETA have once again set off a bomb. The bomb exploded at 3am Spanish time in the Dock region of Bilbao in the Press factory of El Correo, a Northern Newspaper. Fortunately, there were no victims, but you cannot help but think what the damage could have been if it had been busy. It doesn’t even bear thinking about. What I still fail to understand about this group is that if they want to be independent from the Spanish Government, why kill so many innocent people. Why can they not act like adults, and discuss with the right people about what they want to achieve. Im no politician nor do I claim to know anything more than what I have read and studied about the Basque situation but the way I see it is this, If you want to be taken seriously, act like human beings and not murderers. Have a bit of humanity. Maybe you will then be taken seriously. Rant over.x
